Report from Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol this morning on results from avalanche control work: Snow level at Canyon Lodge about 8900'. 6-9" of wet snow on an ice surface. Lots of good results on ski cuts at mid mountain on steeper slopes. Hand charges on Lincoln Mountain ineffective. Mainly roller balls picking up steam and becoming loose wet avalanches. R2 D1.5 in size. Minimal propagation mostly too wet and warm to slab. Some 8-10" crowns. Sliding in wet snow, no real layer.
