Toured up rock creek drain to west ridge above mono pass, 830am-330pm.  Road is now plowed to packstation but lower gate was locked.

Snow on exposed east facing slope >12,000ft was firm but not icy. Snow on south and east aspects below 12,000ft was mostly softening corn, with some windboard and transitional patches. No blowing snow, no rollerballs.

West slopes of Mt. morgan had many bare patches and evidence of past wet slides. Extensive snow coverage in upper rock creek drainage (photo) and upper mono creek.

More detailed information about the weather:

The day began with clear skies and ended with almost entire cloud cover.  Wind speeds and directions varied but typically calm to light winds with occaisional strong gusts up high (>12,000ft) in the afternoon. As we dropped to more protected areas, cloud movement indicated windy conditions up high.  Some light grapple in the afternoon with no accumulation.
