More detailed information about the snowpack:

Spent a couple days in the Onion Valley becoming familiar with the far southern reaches of the forecast area and to assess the spring snowpack stability. Good snow coverage to the trailhead, unlike Big Pine, which requires walking to the snowline.

Sat - good overnight freeze, cool temperatures and breezey. Moderate winds slowed thawing and quickly cooled slopes as they became shaded. Top 10 cm thawed through the day. Triggered small isolated Loose Wet on steep terrain. No recent natural activity noted. Small rollerballs observed on N-NE aspects. Creeks and waterfalls begining to open up above 9000'.

Sun - good overnight freeze, slightly warmer daily high temperature. Light winds and warmer temperatures facilitated more thawing of the surface snow. Thawing ~15cm at the peak of the day. Triggered small isolated Loose Wet on steep terrain. No recent natural activity noted.

Fair amount of people skiing and hiking throughout the area. Road in good condition, parking lot melting out and more parking is becoming available.
