Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Did a quick tour from Lake Mary Road through NE facing trees and up to the shoulder of Red Cone. No cracking or whumping noted during tour.

9:30 Start of tour.  100% cloudy. 2-3 cm of wet, new snow. No wind. Warm air temps.

10:10 Cabins above Lake George at 9000 ft. Ski pen = 4-5cm. 15-20cm of new snow here.  Dense and wet.  1 finger layer beneath new snow with large, wet grains. New snow melting rapidly from tree branches.

10:30 9600 ft. surface snow beginning to change from dense, wet snow to rounded graupel-like consistency. Ski pen=8-10cm.

11:00 Ridgeline at 10,300 ft.  Moderate wind with strong gusts from E and NE.  No snow transport. Poor visibility.  Air temp = 4C. Ski pen on wind exposed ridge = 1-2 cm.

Turnable but heavy snow on descent through N and NE facing trees. No rollerballs or wet slides noted during descent.
