ESAC Kickoff a HUGE Success
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Over 200 people attended the 4th annual Season Kickoff Event last weekend, helping ESAC raise over $7,500! The event was truly amazing - filled with incredible people who were intersted in avalanche awareness and the awe inspiring photography of Christian Pondella.
75 people attended both of the free daytime seminars, and over 40 people were present for Howie Schwartz's presentation on Geology and Skiing on the Eastside. Many thanks to SP Parker (Sierra Mountain Center), Neil Satterfield & Howie (Sierra Mountain Guides) and Tim Villanueva (The Bardini Foundation) for donating their time to these daytime events. We hope you all learned something and will continue to expand on your knowledge through more avalanche edcation.
We couldn't do what we do without the support of our members, and the generous financial support of Mono & Inyo Counties, the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, Mammoth Mountaineering Supply, The Little Kittinger Foundation and the Donald M. Slager Sunset Foundation. It's the community support that powers this organization both financially and in spirit.
Look forward to hearing more about the status of the forecaster position in the coming weeks - as soon as we know something, we'll get it out there. Till then, be safe and thoughful while enjoying the new snow - there's not that much base in most places and stability will vary by location, aspect and elevation.
If you haven't already done so, create a user account and post your observations to the discussion board or photos to the gallery. We're incentivizing participation on the site this season by awarding top posters with gear, clothing and other great items.
Stay tuned, and thanks again!
