Volunteer observer program is underway

After Wednesday's all day course on June Mountain, the volunteer observer program is off to a great start. Many different types of snowpit tests were done from the shovel tilt, compression test, the ECT and the Rutschblock test. Observation guidelines for collecting snow, weather and avalanche observations were all covered in a clear and concise format thanks to the excellent teaching by Howie Schwartz of Sierra Mountain Guides. Now all we need is more snow!
