Mt. Wood

Mt. Wood saw some action today, with a party of four skiing one of the East Face Chutes to the right of the main gut. We (a party of three) ultimately skied the right most East Face Chute that goes to the summit. Variable conditions, consisting mostly of good windboard, but some soft pockets, existed virtually bottom to top. Coverage is fair-good on most aspects, though the north facing stuff was rather thin.

No pits were dug, though I did pole probe and do a couple of hand pits which yielded nothing that interesting... lots of wind loaded and packed snow with no real reactive layers. If it's not totally visible from the road, there was evidence of a 18-24" crown that was approximately 100' wide at the bottom of one of the main gullies. The slide ran about 1,500' onto the fan below, probably mid to late in the storms last week.

For the last 13 years I’ve been self employed, working closely in the property development sector with a contractor friend , Dave, doing construction related tasks like painting, dry wall repair etc. More importantly, I’ve been acquiring and renovating rental properties that I rent out and manage. 511 pants
