Snowpack obs
Everything above Yost Meadows fairly wind hammered.  Lots of firm crusts.  Decided to ski S-E facing chute/gully off San Juaquin/negatives.  Dug pit 30 feet below ridgeline
SE facing, 39 degree slope, total snowpack depth = 240cm
240-235 = 4 finger wet  snow
235-230 = knife hard crust
230-225 = 1 finger plus
225-223 = knife hard sun crust
223-219 = 1 finger
219-217 = knife hard sun crust
217 – 170 = many more alternating layers of knife hard crusts and softer snow.
CT21Q2 at 205cm weak layer 2cm of weak sugary snow just below hard sun crust composed of 1mm mixed form facets.
ECT 25Q2 at 205cm as well.
Wet snow was not found deeper than 1st crust.  1:30pm.  Skied slope.  Layer of nice Mash potatoes ontop of firm wind crust…1-4 inches of mash potatoes…. Pretty good skiing!  Sheltered north facing trees on way down to road held good fluffy snow.   Any curve in slope that had sun exposure however was wet.  Tricky skiing, as we’d hit this wet snow briefly, and then the colder fluffy snow would stick to our skis and ball up.

Avalanche Observations
More detailed information about the avalanche:

3 days ago.  Slide in the hourglass about 1/4 of the way up at steepest point/roll.  150' wide, ran 1000' plus.  12-18" crown.  Probably natural, slide toward end of storm.

Small point releases today and yesterday on solar aspects, shallow
