None on our route. One R2 point release (?) across the canyon on Table Mountain.
Comments:
Dug a 110 cm pit at ~9600 near the top of the first glade (UTM NAD 27 363247 4122093), aspect 20 deg, slope 27 deg.
110-95 Fist, new snow, stellar fragments
95-45 4 fingers, rounded grains 1/2 mm
45-20 Fist, rounded facets, 1-2 mm
20-15 1 finger, sintered rounded facets
15-0 Fist, facets 1-2 mm
Pack was more or less isothermal at -6C.
CT24Q1 at 70 (middle of late Jan storm cycle, not an obvious surface stratigraphically)
CT15Q3 at 30 (column collapsed into depth hoar)
We've observed less settling in the Glades than usual, apparently due to the strength of the late-Jan storm layer. The shear in the middle of the storm layer was unexpected and remarkably clean.
