Avalanche Education is serious business. If you find yourself playing in avalanche terrain you owe it to yourself and your family to get properly educated with a multi-day course that has a field component.

These tutorials are meant to pique your interest or perhaps to brush up on your avalanche knowledge.

AMERICAN AVALANCHE ASSOCIATION
The AAA created a great tutorial for both skiers and snowmobilers.  It's a great, easy to understand avalanche awareness class.  This is one of the easiest to use and a favorite.

CANADIAN AVALANCHE ASSOCIATION

This is the grand daddy of online tutorials. You can spend 30 minutes or half a day on this if you take all the supplemental lessons. It's got great material for skiers and snowmobilers and the video clips are top notch.

NATIONAL AVALANCHE CENTER

Take the Avalanche Basics class first, then the Interactive Tutorial. This site is a good option for beginners or for those with a slower connection since its not too video heavy.

TETON GRAVITY RESEARCH

TGR has a really nice avalanche tutorial put together by Jim Conway. It has great graphics, awesome video clips and even supplemental lessons if you're still hungry for more snow beta.

THE AVALANCHE ENCYCLOPEDIA

This glossary of avalanche and snow terms is very complete and has great graphics. It's a very useful tool for honing your avalanche language. We like this so much we link to these terms in our daily advisory.

There are many educational resources available online.  That can't take the place of actual hands on in the field training and experience, but they can be very usefull.
