Observed numerous avy runouts on the slopes above Chaney's cabin on the north fork canyon (see pic). A bit lower down, at the Wilderness sign / choke point of the trail, there were many voids under the snowpack. I booted going up, snowshoed going down, and post-holed several times up to my waist (other hikers/skiers had the same difficulty). Snowpack was firm at 8am, softening considerably by noon.
