Schedule:
Steve Mace – Director of Operations/ Lead Forecaster at ESAC – Steve will review the record snowfall and notable incidents during the 22/23 season.
Ned Bair – Associate Researcher at the Earth Research Institute, University of California – Santa Barbara – Ned Joins us to discuss recent research into the world of Glide Avalanches.
Geoff Unger – IFMGA mountain Guide, avalanche educator – Geoff will discuss terrain visualization strategies focusing on the effect of latent snow on avalanche start zone terrain configuration.
Samantha Rubin- ESAC Forecaster – Sammy has joined the ESAC forecast team this season. Sammy will present and describe updates to the ESAC Observations portal.
Travis Feist – Education Coordinator/ Pro observer at the Sierra Avalanche Center – Travis brings us his insights on the evolution of motorized users in avalanche terrain.
Nick Bliss – Avalanche Forecaster at the Bridgeport Avalanche Center – Nick joins us to describe some exciting changes to the BAC operations.
Dawn Johnson – Warning Coordination Meteorologist and the NWS Reno – Dawn will give us a quick review of last winter, what signals are in place for this upcoming winter, and how to best receive and utilize available weather information regarding avalanche safety.
