- With sun angle still low and solar slope variety waning, decided to see what sort of facet farming we could do on June Lake Northerly’s. In general firm wind boarded slopes are beginning to produce more edge-able skiing and in places enjoyable soft faceted turns are available with some continuity.
- Between 7,400′ and 10,000′ predominately north facing terrain still holds a great variety of surface conditions. Most not typically described as quality skiing, though I would say improving.
- Above 8500′, 1-2mm Fist hard, near surface facets, with Boot Pen varying between 5-25cm, were just as abundant as firm slightly deteriorating wind boards with 0cm boot pen. Variable still being the word.
- With continuous high pressure forecasted it seems monitoring NSF growth and location will be a helpful tool in understanding the futures new old interfaces. if/when that ever occurs, mid elevation June area northerly terrain may be set up for a reactive interface.
