On Friday, March 11th, we traveled with an AIARE Rec 2 group out to Smugglers Knob via Minaret Vista Rd. We left the TH around 9:30AM and the temp was already above freezing and remained that way for the entire tour. It was a very warm day. At around 2PM we dug snow pits on the NNW aspect of Smugglers Knob and the air temp was 5 Celsius. Snow conditions were variable ranging from crusts to a few centimeters of soft snow in sheltered terrain. Skies were clear all day. Winds were calm to light out of the SW in the AM increasing to light with moderate gust in the PM.
