Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Toured up from Onion Valley Trailhead out of Independence (Rd is clear all the way to end at the trialhead ... watch for some rocks on the road) up to Mt. Gould (East Face - 13,000') and back.  

-Some softening / moist snow at surface at 11,600' at 10am, South facing slope.  Boot penetration very minimal, crampons necessary.  

-Very minimal softening of east and southeast slopes above 11,200' at 2:30pm. 

-10,500 - 9,200': aspects with some southerly exposure had good surface softening yet remained very suportable (good corn) even at 3:00pm.  

-Evidence of new snow and wind transport from Monday night... areas with 1-3cm down low, up high some areas of 2-5" where snow was blown and deposited.   

-No evidence of instabilities noted today.  No sesitive windslabs, no rollerballs or loose-wet activity anywhere today.  Some evidence of limited isolated rollerball activity from atleast several days agp below 10,500'.

Clear blue skies, not a cloud in the sky.  Mostly calm winds except for light SW breeze at upper elevations and over ridgetop.  Moderate temperatures, slightly below freezing at 13,000' at mid-day(2pm).
