Hey Ned, I've actually seen a handful of full-on ECTXs lately ... this new storm snow seems to have serously settled and bonded suprisingly well. Have been seeing some ECTPs thought in the facet layer under the new snow with well over a meter of snow ontop as well though! Thanks for bringing up the discussion ... good to make sure we are all talking about the same thing for sure. -Josh
I'd like to talk to you more about what you have observed sometime. Sounds like you are saying it's rare for you to see ECTX results in a sub-freezing (winter) snowpack? I'm sure I have not done thousands of tests as you have, but I would say with certainty that I have observed ECTX relatively frequently, in the Sierra and other ranges, in a cold, winter snowpack. I noticed some of the recent ECTX's posted by obervers here had layers of concern deeper than 1m, which might explain some of those results. Don't feel a need to respond here, but if you want to chat about this topic sometime (and I know you and I love to geek out about this sort of thing) I'd be interested. Cheers, and thanks for your input and feedback as always to ESAC operations!
