Today we took a tour around the Mt. Olson area. From this location, we could investigate how South, East, and North aspects have been adjusting to the prolonged dry spell. South faces continue to show signs of warming however instead of a corn cycle on smooth surfaces, we have been noticing small elongated blades of snow and ice develop over time. Mini spires jagged in nature, making travel difficult on solar aspects.
Transitioning to the North we found faceted snow in sheltered and shady locations. Despite the persistent dry spell it was refreshing to feel soft snow underfoot in the trees. Light winds and scattered clouds formed throughout the day.
