Ski'd in Mirkwood, stayed in the trees, winds were high in drifting snow was observed. Overcast early, followed by breaking sun in afternoon. 1st lap stayed below ridge due to snow and wind. 2nd Lap transitioned on the crest, sunny and less windy around 2pm. Stayed mostly on 30-40 degrees pitches. No cracking or whoomping observed. Snow pack felt safe. Some firmer and wind crust at the top, but lower in the tree's very soft fun boot deep snow. Wind picked up later in the day.

Dug a snow pit at 8400 feet, NW facing. Slope Angle 31 degrees. Air Temp -4. Pit Depth 160. Observed a week layer at 65 cm. HS 335 cm, Surface Snow -9 degrees, ECTN #18 down 24cm
