Toured up the moraine from the Mt Morrison Cemetery, keeping to low-angle terrain, and dug a pit on a N facing, 11 deg slope at 7330 feet. HS 175cm. Top 7cm was unconsolidated soft snow, followed by heavy, right-side up fist/4 finger snow all the way down to a clear ice layer at 95cm. Below the ice layer, we found ~8cm of very large faceted grains. The snow got progressively harder below the facets, reaching 1F at the ground. We did not isolate a column, but stomping above the pit on skis showed no signs of instability. By 1pm, the top layer of overnight snow had already become very wet.
