Toured up Convict Canyon 4/17 towards Red Slate. S facing slopes on the shoulder of Laurel Mountain showed evidence of numerous large (D3) avalanches, some running all the way down to Convict creek. These likely released during our warm spell last week. Higher up Convict Canyon, smaller (D1-2) slides had released from chutes on the West face of Mount Morrison. The snow in the lower canyon was solidly refrozen, and convict creek is still mostly concealed, though it has begun to open up in a few spots lower down in the canyon. Most notably, the North Couloir on Red Slate Mountain has a sizable glide crack running across its bottom. Large glide cracks are also present in the bowl on the mountain's east aspects.
